How to make a better game experience

Extended Reality (VR, AR and MR) is becoming an important and relevant field in digital entertainment, thanks to the high immersion possibilities achieved through it. These experiences combine visible, acoustic, haptic and senorial senses in such a way that users can truly be moved to an alternative reality. However, there are many challenges and limitations coming from both technological and game design aspects. Cybersickness, space orientation, interaction design, graphical response, tracking, streaming data together with storytelling narratives and collaborative issues are some of the relevant topics that must be investigated and developed in the next few years, in order to increase and popularize the field. This workshop aims to bring researchers and practitioners together to discuss and present these challenges, presenting ongoing solutions, possibilities and strategies to improve the player experience. We hope to motivate discussions on innovative implementation techniques that may affect player experiences in XR environments as well identifiy research groups and potential collaborations in this exciting field.
The XR in Games is sponsored by the FINEP SenseGames Project and also intends to bring space for discussions in the field, opening possibilities for collaborations and projects interchange.
